Henry Burke (Matt Bush) has it! He’s the school valedictorian by just a few hundredths of a point, but he’s got it. But a random drug test at the same time as Henry takes his very first hit of pot risks his scholarship and his future. The school pothead Travis (Sean Marquette) feels guilty for getting him into this, so he helps him devise a scheme to spike the brownies at the bake sale so the entire school will fail and eliminate the problem. Of course everything goes wrong and things get worse and worse as one lie piles up upon another until it’s all about to come crashing down by the principal who suspects and the police who are anxious to bust the case.

I hated this movie. Adrian Brody showed up looking shaggy and unkempt as the big time drug dealer, mostly to have a “big name” on the marquee. He truly could have (and maybe did) mail in his part as there was nothing for him to do here but mumble and try to look menacing. The school principal is the biggest a**hole principal since “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”, but he’s not funny in the least. There’s just not much going on here. They twist the story around to offer some gratuitous nudity that does nothing to offer anything to the story, and I have to say that girl with the tattoos scares the hell out of me! They try to pull off some kind of Cheech and Chong thing, or maybe more like Jay and Silent Bob, but it just doesn’t work. The whole thing is just really stupid and there’s no action, suspense, comedy, or real story. Even Sebastian (Adhir Kalyan), who is pretty funny as Timmy in Rules of Engagement, is dull here as the rival for Valedictorian who is trying to bust these guys, but just can’t seem to pull it off. The whole thing is a mess and I don’t recommend it. I wanted to enjoy it, but the further it dragged on, the worse it got.

One of Santa’s elves accidentally takes off in the sleigh, and crashes at a small town. In the process, he loses Santa’s magic bag which is taken by the owner of a big toy company who uses it to get hold of Santa’s never ending supply of toys. It’s up to Santa’s lovable Saint Bernard Beethoven to save the day, find the bag, and get everything back to the North Pole in time for Santa’s annual journey.

This film is perhaps the weakest of any of the Beethoven films. For some odd reason, Beethoven talks in this movie. To make it worse, he’s voiced by Tom Arnold, and that’s exactly who he sounds like. The story is mostly silly, and it’s not really too good. I’m sure young kids, maybe about 5-10 will love Beethoven and enjoy the magic of Santa and the elves, but anyone over 10 will probably just find it stupid. Sorry, but this is not my favorite film at all. If you’re into better doggie Chrismas Movies…Santa Buddies and In Search of Santa Paws are both better films. Unless you’re a Beethoven fanatic, stay away from this one.

Tripp (Patrick Dempsey) walks into the bank to get some change. The teller is a recently “engaged” Kaitlin (Ashley Judd) who Tripp instantly falls for. But suddenly the bank is being robbed by two different gangs. Tripp has a unique talent at extreme multitasking. SO his neurotic fast speaking way of talking takes us along for the ride, plus he’s always a step or two ahead of everyone else. But nothing is at all as it appears. Tripp takes Kaitlin and the rest of us through his thought process step by step by step as he unravels what’s really going on at a frantic pace.

This film was a great surprise. I didn’t expect it to be very good, but was I wrong. This movie is a lot like “Clue” in the way the mystery is solved (and explained to the audience) but it’s really funny. The Peanut Butter and Jelly gang are easily as incompetent as “The Apple Dumpling Gang” and the other gang is hard core and very technical. But nobody knows what’s really going on and who’s being manipulated by whom until the final credits. It’s a very funny movie. I really enjoyed it, and I recommend it to anyone who’s a fan of films like “Dog Day Afternoon” or “Ocean’s Eleven” or anything like that in the crime comedy genre. You’ll be caught up in the action while you laugh you head off at the funny caper. It’s a really good film.
