** Angels and Ornaments

Chesler/Perlmutter Productions,

Graham Abbey, Sergio Di Zio, Roger Doche, Samantha Espie, Jessalyn Gilsig, Lindsay Leese, Richard Waugh,

Corrine (Jessalyn Gilsig) is still getting over a recent breakup, but she’s showing a happy face since it’s Christmas and it’s her favorite time of the year. She works playing Christmas songs in a music store run by childhood friend Dave (Graham Abbey), and she auditioned for a solo in the Christmas concert. A new employee, Harold (Sergio Di Zio) shows up and shows an intense interest in getting Corrine and Dave together, but little does she knows that Harold is on a deadline to get them together by Christmas Eve or fail at his assigned task.

This is the old, angel trying to earn his wings story that is timeless, but it’s a lighthearted romp through lots of Christmas music and Christmas spirit. Though this is a familiar story, it’s really well done and light and easy. Not highly memorable, nor is it a classic, but it’s a fun new Christmas story with new faces and loads of holiday spirit. There are a few classics that we can watch over and over, but I have to credit Hallmark for bringing out a dozen new films each year. The characters are likeable, and though the banter between Harold and his supervisor is sometimes a little silly, and their “cover” is a bit out of the ordinary, the relationship between Corrine and Dave feels authentic and the movie wraps up nicely as it should. A simple familiar take, but one that I enjoyed, just the same.
