Jack Davenport is assigned to travel to Dallas to do a story just before Christmas. He and his wife are having trouble, and he doesn’t really want to visit his wife’s family again, so he is kind of happy to get the assignment. But while there, he decides to take a side trip to the town where he came from to find out a little about his birth. But a mystery develops when his birth certificate is missing, and his adoption records (including the birth mother and father) were sealed. Jack won’t let it go though, and being an investigative journalist, does a lot of digging to find the truth of where he came from. In the process he learns a lot about himself and the value of his wife and their soon to be arriving child.

This is ultimately a Christian movie, so there are lots of scenes of ministers and churches. But it’s not a preachy film, and certainly isn’t in your face in that respect. Actually there are some deep, dark secrets and it’s a fairly decent mystery film. With a strong Christmas message, this is a pretty decent holiday film. It’s a little heavier than many. This is definitely a drama and not a comedy in any way. However it’s a strong story with great acting from the leads and is well worth catching.
