Two sisters are used to the life in Beverly Hills with their father. When he suddenly dies, they are shocked to learn that he was deeply in debt and they lost everything. Finding themselves with no options, they move in with their Aunt in East LA. One girl is making the best of things and looking for ways to help others even though they have lost everything, but her sister is simply looking for a way back to high life no matter who she has to step on to get it. Loosely based on Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility, this is a comedy-drama about life when things suddenly go wrong and the possible redemption if you make the right choices.

This is a pretty cute story. It helps if you have some background in Hispanic culture to get some of the jokes, but the experiences these girls go through are familiar enough to be poignant to anyone. They have to learn what they thought was important is not, and what they ignored are the things that are really valuable. It shows the value of family and caring for others. The characters are well developed and mesh together very well. Stuff happens very quickly to fit it into the time frame, but the story is very rich and has a lot of humor and a lot of heart, and teaches some real core values. I enjoyed it, even though I was not blown away.
