Fin (Ian Ziering) and April (Tara Reid) are back aboard a plane headed for New York City after the big disaster in L.A. But on the flight a big storm arrives in New York bringing snow, tornadoes, and picking up sharks from the water and dropping them on the streets of New York along with all the famous landmarks. It’s up to Fin and April as the experts from the last disaster to help out and come up with a plan to stop the sharknado before it wipes out the whole city. This is the follow up to the original SciFi channel hit from last year, and what looks like another a huge hit, must bigger than the first one.

SciFi did it right. They did a double-double feature on Wednesday Night, July 30th for both movies. But if you missed it, no fear, they’ll repeat them for sure. This Saturday Aug 2nd is another double feature. The first Sharknado is on NetFlix streaming, and the second one is already to order from Amazon (See the link above). This one was a much bigger ratings boom for SciFi than the first one, and it was a lot of fun. The first time around it was really different, silly, but something we had never seen before. This time we’ve already seen it raining sharks, so this time, they gave us a lot of cameos and nods to a lot of original disaster films, and a great deal of the fun is seeing the celebrities flock to have a part in history with this film. I don’t want to give them away, as it’s really fun when they pop up, but be aware that this film is in no way expected to be taken seriously. It knows it’s silly, and it owns it and exploits its silliness to your advantage. It’s the biggest camp film I’m seen in a long, long time. I thought the Scary Movies were funny, but this one takes on the disaster films with a vengeance. It’s hysterical, and I am sorry I wasn’t able to put together a Sharknado Double Feature Party to watch this with friends. That would be a blast. I really enjoyed this one much more than the first one and found it utterly delightful. Here is my review of the first one, and a preview of the new one. Don’t miss these as they are bound to become part of our common culture references of the future! Don’t miss out on it. Finally, here is the link to the official web page for Sharknado 2: The Second One!
