  • “Hotel Transylvania” opens this week. This is a fun monster themed cartoon feature with voices like Adam Sandler, Miley Cyrus, Cee-lo Green, David Spade, and tons of others, and it looks like lots of fun! “Looper” stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Bruce Willis, Emily Blunt sci-fi story about time travel, and a hired assassin who is responsible for killing people sent back from the future who need to be taken out by the mob. But when he’s hired to kill his future self, everything breaks down. “Bringing up Bobby” Milla Jojovich is European woman who, in order to escape her past and make a better for her and her young son, moves to Oklahoma, but runs into all sorts of challenges. What would the last days of September be without a new horror film to try to scare us. “The Hole” fits the bill. After moving into a new home, they find a huge hole in the basement that seems to have no bottom. Hence we get to watch them try to figure out why it’s there, what it means, and who lived in this house before them. “The Other Dream Team” is a documentary about a couple of athletes from Lithuania who lead the USSR to gold medal at the Seoul Olympics in 1988. It documents their life since, especially after the fall of the USSR and the challenges of living behind the iron curtain. “Pitch Perfect” with Anna Kendrick and Brittany Snow is a Glee-like film about a college choir trying to bring the trophy home with a lot of music mixed in with the usual teen angst of mean girls and other problems. “Solomon Kane” is an action film of a vicious mercenary who takes on the forces of hell to save his soul. “Trade of Innocents” with Mira Sorvino is about a woman trying to fight the sex slave business in southeast Asia. “THe Waiting Room” is a documentary looking at the care of uninsured patients at a public hospital. Based mostly in the ER, it shows what life is like for people with no insurance. Finally “Won’t Back Down” is the story of a mother who is fed up with the quality of education in kids school, so she puts together a team of teachers and parents to start their own school, and is based somewhat on a true story.
