Greetings,

Every year for the last three years,  we’ve done a special project called “Ed’s Christmas on TV Project” [Click here for the special page]

This year is no exception! We’ll be starting today mixing some holiday films in along with the regular reviews, but there is a list of hundreds of films that have already been reviewed. You’ll see them on the “Ed’s Christmas on TV Project” page, and you can recognize them as the titles will start with two snowflakes “**” in front of the title. These are films that appear on TV, on cable channels like Hallmark, and Lifetime, and all over the place. Many are available on demand and on Watch Instantly. I hope that if you are a Christmas Movie sucker like I am, that this special list helps you find the gems among the clinkers are you enjoy your holiday viewing.

And we have to stop and thank God for Tivo!!!

Happy Holidays, everyone.

Ed is out of commission!!!!

Friends,

When it rains, it pours. I’ve lost equipment right and left including a disk drive that will no longer boot. A backup drive which stopped working the night before. I have backups of all my files, but I need to get them back into a place where I can work on them, but there’s more. Work is crazy busy. My company provided me with a fax blast to complete to 13,500 people. I have guests coming and we’re remodeling most of the second floor, from bedrooms to bathroom, to the little office where I spend my days and nights.

Add to that severe headaches (probably lack of sleep) and horrible back pain, and I’m walking around looking like Quasimodo. Meanwhile I can’t even talk about Dark Night Rises cause I haven’t been to the theater in weeks. Give me a few days to recover, and I’ll have 2 new computers and all my stuff restored, and we’ll be back on track to hit 1000 reviews very soon.

Bear with me and if you are hurting for reviews, here is the the archives page!!!!

Take care!

Ed

Intermission

Hi folks.

“Park’s closed. The moose out front should’ve told ya.”

I’m having some serious back pain today, and sitting in this old chair puts me into spasms in about 2 minutes. I have watched a ton of films, mostly new DVD releases and such, and few classics and newer stuff, but there’s no way I can do the review the way this back has been the last few days. So I’m going to call a little intermission. I’ll have lots more reviews coming up as soon as I can, but it the meantime, here’s a little jingle to bring back some old memories.

Movie Rentals Releasing Tuesday July 3, 2012

There are actually no new DVD releases for this week. Netflix has three releases that have been out for a while but are now available on Netflix. These are “Safe House”, Act of Valor” and “Machine Gun Preacher”

To check them out, click here: [Safe House, Act of Valor, and Machine Gun Preacher]

So lets have a little break from the new movies and go watch some fireworks!!!

HAPPY
INDEPENDENCE
DAY

While I have a week with no new releases I had one small thing I wanted to say to those of you who take the time to read my posts. As I look throughout the internet, I find a great number of movie reviewers. This could be discouraging and make me want to give it up, but there are several reasons why I don’t, and I figured I would mention a little about it today. First, there are the professional critics. For years I have noticed that I seldom agree with the these guys. I think it’s because they are part of the “in” crowd in the movie business, so as a result sometimes they make up their mind before they even see the film. Secondly, they see so many films, that they get tired of the ordinary stuff that people who only see a few movies a year, love, but are blown away by some out of the ordinary, bizarre, artsy film that leaves us regular folk saying…..”I paid $13.50 for this?? What was that???”. This is because they are excited by something they’ve never seen before. I try to be the everyman movie lover who watches a lot of films on DVD, but try to keep a regular guy view on what’s decent and what’s not worth the time.

But there are a lot of ordinary guys out there doing reviews too, so what makes me different than the rest? Well, I always have my eye out for those out of the mainstream films that come along from time to time that are hidden gems. I seek out very unusual films, and often find something very unique that is really good, and I try to pass those things on to you. My “Christmas Project” that I have done for the last two years is about the only place I have seen that reviews and rates almost every Christmas film that comes on TV. In November and December of each year, I have rated literally hundreds of Holiday films on TV, and that is unique to this blog. I try to find outstanding biographies, documentaries, and films put together on a shoestring budget that are made by people who simply love to make movies, and some of them are darn good.

Of course I will always get the most hits on the big blockbusters like “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2” or the latest Batman or Spiderman film, but that is not why I do this blog. It is to find those out of the way shining stars that you may have missed. I hope I accomplish that from time to time. One of these days I’m going to make a recap of all the hidden gems I have uncovered. In the meantime, keep reading and I’ll try to give you my honest opinion on the ordinary and extraordinary.

Thanks..

==Ed
