Crystal Sky, SP Chilly Christmas,

Tom Arnold, C. Thomas Howell, Brooke Langton, Casey Graf, Karan Brar

Bobby has a special dog that he has for a companion. Life with his single Dad in Hawaii is awesome, and Bobby is very happy, but when his Dad gets a job as a detective in New York City, it’s clear that Chilly Christmas has to go. Bobby’s job is to find a home for him, while Dad tries to crack one last case of a band of dog thieves that steal valuable pets for sale on the black market. Will Bobby and his friends be able to teach Chilly how to be an apartment dog? It’s tough when a dog as big as Chilly loves to run around outside.

This is a typical holiday film, and new one on DVD for this year. It’s a cute film, and probably one that the younger kids will love. However, it’s very predictable, and will remind you of other films, especially “101 Dalmatians” with Tom Arnold as Cruella DeVil! Basically the story is very similar to lots of other movies, so it fails on the originality scale. Also, it’s being marketed as a Christmas film, but though Chilly Christmas is a Christmas gift in the first 5 minutes, after that there is no real mention of the holidays. Essentially this could take place at any time of the year

Still, it’s a nice film for the youngsters who will love the action and the adventure, and the dog. It will resonate with their “kidness” and they’ll probably enjoy it. There’s nothing bad about this film, and it’s a decent family film if you’re in the mood for that. Just don’t expect an really original story, because it just isn’t.
