Alien monsters have arrived, but not in a space ship. These buglike monsters crawled out of the Teutonic plate under the Pacific Ocean. They were horrific foes, but the humans managed to beat back the first wave, but now they’re back much smarter and stronger. The only way they have been able to fight these monsters is with giant robotic weapon know as a Jaeger. These Kaiju are strong enough to defeat a human, but when two humans meld their minds into a single bridge, they can control the Jaeger and fight back. But when things get nearly hopeless, the world has to depend on a washed up old fighter Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and young untested fighter named Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi). This unusual pair may be the worlds final hope.

First off, this is just not my type of movie. I watch my sons, and my grandsons, with their eyes open wide watching the latest Transformers mega-movie. And I sit there wishing it were over. They just don’t appeal to me. If you’re a fan of this kind of film, then I suspect this must be a very good one. The fact is that this movie did very well at the box office. It’s action packed, and full of great alien explosions and lots of death and destruction. It’s a BIG movie, made for IMAX, for sure. I found myself a little bored with the whole story, as there isn’t a lot going on other than blowing up aliens and such, but for people who love that kind of excitement, it has tons of action. Everything is done is a big way, and the creatures are very awesome CGI monsters, and they do pursue the brain melding thing that brings up a few interesting plot journeys. But mostly it’s action, action, and more action. If you’re a fan of this type of big explosive movies, then this is one you ought not to miss. For me, it was ok, but not something I would have missed had I not seen it.
