Four friends decide to dedicate their bong as “The Virginity Hit” and to only smoke it four times, when each of them becomes a man. It’s Matt’s turn, and he and his girlfriend of 2 years have everything planned for a perfect first time. But Matt finds out that she cheated on him at a fraternity party and he sets her up for humiliation. It seems that no matter what Matt does though, he ends up looking like more of an idiot. What’s worse is that in this day and age, they shoot everything on camera and post it to You Tube. Matt becomes an unwilling pawn in the world of viral videos.
This film is a collection of you tube clips and hand held camera shots, and is not very good. Using mostly unknown actors (a few of them have commercial experience or a tv cameo or two, but mostly unknown) it gives the impression that it’s a true story, but I DO get the joke. It’s a mockumentary and is playing with us in that respect. Still it’s obvious to everyone that it’s just a movie about things that are staged and set up for the story. That’s fine, I get that, and I love sarcastic humor and the big put on, and I get the joke. The problem is that the story is not very funny and is mostly stupid. I guess this is made for “Superbad” or “American Pie” fans, but it’s not close to either of them in story or humor. I’m sure this film has it’s fans, and I do have to admit that the kids did a pretty good job acting it out, but the story is just so incredibly dumb, that I wouldn’t recommend anyone waste the time on it unless you have the humor of a 14 year old boy who thinks bodily function jokes are hilarious.
