Introducing Diana Prince, daughter of the queen of the Amazon, we see Diana (Gal Gadot) as a little girl, growing up on an island of powerful women hidden from the world. But it’s clear she’s a special girl, destined to be a fighter with powers that she doesn’t even understand. But it’s clear she has a history that is amazing and is going to be become a superhero for sure. Distraught by the horrors of War, Diana heads out to help thwart the Germans from developing a most horrible chemical weapon that will allow them to rule the world, but it’s not going to be easy as only she understands who the real enemy is, and only she has a chance to stop him.

This is not the Wonder Woman we watched on TV each week as kids. The Diana Prince in a suit working for the government. But that’s okay, as a whole new generation of people need to meet Wonder Woman in order to bring her into the future Justice League films which will probably be an awesome thing to see. They need to meet the original Wonder Woman before she was domesticated and this movie does the trick. I have a couple minor complaints with the film, but I did see it in 3D and I really enjoyed the movie. The story is fun, and the fight scenes are awesome, with some really great chases and explosions all over the place. Suspense level if very high, and though it feels really long, almost 2 1/2 hours, it was quite entertaining. It’s just the they went a bit overboard on the CGI. It was so very fake looking and I felt it took away from the experience a bit. I think I enjoyed movies a bit more back when the CGI wasn’t so all in your face. I feel sorry for the actors spending weeks and weeks in front of a green screen. How boring it must have been to react to all the imaginary stuff that didn’t exist yet. All in all though, Gal Gadot did an excellent job, and was brilliant as Wonder Woman and she really pulled it off. Chris Pine backed her up really well, and the evil “take over the world” plot of the Germans was believable. The final battle was a bit anti-climactic, as if all the planning went into the CGI and they really didn’t know how to end it, but all in all it was a good film, and well worth the ticket prices.

Jason (Zac Efron) has three close friends, Daniel (Miles Teller) and Mikey (Micahel B. Jordan). Jason is a bit of a player, but when he is dumped he and his buddies make a pact that they will not get involved with anyone, but simply play the field. But it becomes difficult to keep their promise as all three meet their own perfect girl while trying to pretend it didn’t happen.

This romantic comedy is really more of a bromance film as really most of the story is about the three guys. This is a very predictable story and certainly will feel familiar. It’s an ok film, and I didn’t hate it at all, but just felt it is not really worth the effort. Unless you’re a big fan of the actors here, I bet Zac has a lot of fans out there, it’s probably a waste of time seeking this one out. On the other hand, though, it is available on cable, and you might catch it on TV for free like I did. In that case, it’s not all that bad a way to burn 90minutes or so.

It’s the 1930’s and Bobby (Jesse Eisenberg) is a a naive Jewish boy living with his Mom and Pop in New York City who dreams of going to Hollywood to experience a new life. Bobby’s Uncle, Phil Stern (Steve Carell) is a power agent working the biggest stars in Hollywood and is a very busy guy, so Bobby’s Mom calls in a favor and asks Phil to watch over him. When Bobby arrives, he fits into the glitz and glamor of 1930’s Hollywood very quickly, but it thrown for a loop when he meets Vonnie (Kristen Stewart) and he falls very hard. But things are complicated because Vonnie is dating a married man and things get complicated very quickly. This is a Woody Allen film.

When Woody Allen makes a film, there is certainly a specific feel and mood to the story. This is very classic Woody, a homage to old Hollywood which I feel Allen must find very appealing. And as such, with all Woody films, it could be hit or miss. This one wasn’t too bad at all. I think this movie out La La Lands “La La Land” [Click Here for Ed’s Review] . Ever since “The Artist” [Click Here for Ed’s Review] came out in 2011 and grabbed Best Picture at the Oscars, old time Hollywood has been in, and this is a very good period picture. Steve Carell does an excellent job as the power agent of the stars and he didn’t overplay it. He showed multiple facets to his character without missing the effects that being such a big shot would have on his personality. Jesse Eisenberg is also very well cast as the young Jewish boy longing for the bright lights and glamor of Hollywood either. What really surprised me was Kristen Stewart who I am usually unimpressed by. With all the wooden performances in the Twilight series, and the underwhelming disaster that was Snow White and the Huntsman, I had soft of given up on her, but she did a really good job in this movie, and I don’t know if it was Woody’s talent in pulling this performance out of her, or if she is really getting it, but I think she may have some really good performances in there waiting to come out. Great job. With the other characters too there are are some really good performances there. All in all, it was a nice simple film that took us way back to a much easier time and was a refreshing change of pace. I actually enjoyed this film, and unless you’re one of those who simply hate Woody Allen for his personal life choices, you may want to give this a try. It was an interesting story and felt like a trip back in time.

Georgie Gallagher (Jack Smith) is a young boy attending a private school for underprivileged children, is having a tough time. He lives with his single Mom since his father was killed in a car crash. He loves football, but though he has a lot of talent, he’s not got any training whatsoever. When he steals an elderly man’s wallet, he gets caught, but he doesn’t know it, the man is none other than the beloved retired coach of Manchester United, Sir Matt Busby (Brian Cox). Matt is carrying a heavy load of his own, and he agrees not to press charges against Georgie as long he will be allowed to coach them. They agree as they want to play in a tournament but do not have an adult coach. What Matt’s really wants to do though is to continue his life’s work of trying to teach boys to be good men. This is based on the true events that happened to Georgie Gallagher and Matt Busby.

This is a touching feel good movie based upon the true story. It’s got the usual TV special type drama, and the game comes down tied to the last seconds as the boys learn all about life. Nothing is easy for Georgie as he has a lot to deal with in his young life, but it is emotionally charged and a really feel good movie. The title comes from the line Matt teaches Georgie that if you “Believe, you can score the goal with your eyes shut.” Nice film for kids, especially those who enjoy soccer, as there aren’t enough good soccer films out there for youngsters. But it’s bound to leave a lot of adults with misty eyes too as the clock ticks down to the last second. This is a good family film. Recommended.
