Eloise Mumford, Michael Stahl-David, Christopher Lloyd, William Shatner

Linsdsay Rogers (Eloise Mumford) is a teacher. She submitted her thesis for her doctorate in Psychology for publishing. It’s Christmas and he boyfriend has asked her to a special dinner at the nicest place in town. But on the way to the restaurant, the phone rings, and she is offered a chance to take an associate professor position at Yale with possible tenure. This is her biggest dream, and she is so anxious to to share the new with Jason (Michael Stahl-David), her boyfriend. What she doesn’t know is that he has planned a special evening, having the restaurant all to themselves for a special meal, and he proposes to her. She is unable to say yes, and is faced with a heartbreaking choice. Move to Connecticut and make her dream come true or accept Jason. They have a very awkward scene, and ends up crying in the park when a coachman (William Shatner) shows up with a horse and carriage and offers her a ride, three years into the future, to see what could happen based upon her choice.

This Hallmark Hall of Fame production of Just in Time for Christmas is a very heart wrenching tale of life and love. This is a really good romance. The time travel stuff is handled really well. This is filled with remarkable characters and is a very well spun story. It’s one of those fork in the road type films with the mysterious coachman takes her to see what her life would be if she made one choice. These are really interesting looks at how one decision might change the rest of your life. The main characters are very well chosen, and perform their parts really well. It’s hard to play all the confusion you would face if suddenly everything changed around you, but it’s well handled as the is the return to the point of the major choice. Christopher Lloyd plays Lindsay’s Grandfather, and he is a major part of the movie which is good for us, as he is very good, as usual. He portrays the common sense in the film and is really good in this. All in all, I really enjoyed this film and was very happy that Hallmark brought this to us this year. As a “Hall of Fame” production, it has a bit more budget, a little extra care, and is an excellent Christmas story. This is one I would suggest you catch for sure this season.
