New Years Eve 2011 is a bustling and busy night in the Big Apple. Claire Morgan (Hillary Swank) is in charge of making sure the ball drop is ready to go flawlessly at midnight. A lot of poeple are hustling and bustling around. Two couples are having a race to see who’s baby will be born first after midnight. Two neighbors are stuck in an elevator, and the is an awesome party about to go down. This is a film that has lots and lots of stories going on, couples and singles, friends and enemies, and it all comes together at the stroke of midnight. With an all-star cast of dozens of stars and cameos, this is a hilarious party for everybody from start to finish.
This is made by the people who made Valentines Day, and it’s along the same line. Numerous stories all leading up to a climax where all the loose ends come together. There are so many clever gags here, that it’s a lot of fun. Even the bloopers during the credits are loads of fun. I love when movies do that! Naturally everyone is having a crisis of one sort or another, and before the night is over, they have to work out all the issues. The audience let out a gasp (and a couple people yelled out “I knew it”) when the big reveal at the end happened. There are a couple clever twists along the way. But mostly it’s a romantic comedy with a great cast and is certainly top notch entertainment. Just watch near the end when Mr. Matthew Broderick shows up, what they call him. It cracked me up more than any other gag.
This is a good film for the holidays. If you like light romantic comedies, check this one out. It’s amazing how many people they got to appear in this film. Best Picture Oscar…..no, but certainly lots of fun and enjoyment.
