This is a movie based on a book based on a song.  This is multiple stories blended in together so that all the players touch each other in some way.  The two main stories are of an ambitious but caring man who is a lawyer defending a bunch of farmers to protect their livelihood.  In the process he works days and nights and weekends and neglects the family.  His wife is fed up and their marriage is about to fail.  Manwhile, another family is reeling under the illness of the wife.  She’s a volunteer music teacher and she has heart problems that are killing her.  An attempted heart transplant doesn’t work out, and she has no time left.  Her son wants to buy her a special pair of shoes, but is short.  A kind stranger lends him the money.

The way the characters of this story intertwine with each other is amazing.  It, like the book and the song, touches the heart and makes you think about how precious life and family is and how it’s important to value them both above work and money.  It’s a very wonderful Christmas movie and well worth the time to track this one down!
