** A Very Merry Mix-Up

Chesler/Perlmutter Productions,

Alicia Witt, Mark Wiebe, Scott Gibson, Mimi Kuzyk, Judah Katz

Alice (Alicia Witt) runs her late father’s antique store, and is recently engaged to her work-aholic fiance Will (Mark Wiebe). They are planning on spending Christmas as Will’s house to let his parents into the surprise news of their engagement, but he has some work to finish and can’t leave the city. He sends Alice ahead, but lost luggage and a freak accident that destroys her phone leaves her stranded in the airport without the address. But in a moment of serendipity, her fiance’s brother Matt confirms that he is Billy’s brother and he can give her a ride home. While she’s bonding with the family, to her horror she eventually learns that it’s the wrong family and the wrong house when Will finally arrives and brings her to the right house. But Alice has connected to the other family and learns she might not have been in the wrong house after all.

This comedy of errors, Christmas disaster film is very fresh and quite interesting. The acting is excellent, and Alicia Witt is fabulous as Alice. The film is really well made, beautiful to look at, and a very charming and romantic story. Perhaps the facts fit a little too perfectly together, but it’s a Christmas movie after all. Hallmark has already given us some fantastic new 2013 movies, and this one is much more original in many ways than any others I’ve seen. I really enjoyed this film, and it’s very full of the Christmas spirit. I’ve was able to relate to this movie, as like Alice, I am like her in my way of going along with the wrong path to avoid the hassle of trying to upset everything and everyone. Alice is classic at this method of dealing with problems, and it takes a lot to get her to move. This was a really fun movie to watch, and perhaps my favorite of the new 2013 class of Christmas on TV movies.
