Eloise at Christmastime is simple that….Eloise……at Christmastime.   Sofia Vassilieva is excellent in bringing Eloise to life.  But even with all the wonderful characters in this film, it’s still not that great of a film.  Julie Andrews is great as Eloise’s nanny and she lives in the Plaza, but she jumps from one random adventure to another so fast that it’s tiring to watch.  There’s nothing wrong with the movie, just that it goes a little too fast for my taste.  For young girls this is going to be a fascinating film.   Eloise is up to her usual tricks, mainly trying to stop someone from marrying the wrong guy and steering her to the right guy.  But in the meantime she’s got a lot of other trouble to get into. I guess I should mention that this is a live action film, not a cartoon.

My general feeling is that if you have a reason to be a fan of Eloise, either memories of your childhood, or the presence of a girl who loves the stories, you’ll really love this authentic and realistic adaptation of the books, but for the rest of it, it may just be a little bit annoying.
